The
Gardens and Grounds
The stunning
30 acre garden and arboretum was designed by William Nesfield in 1858. Magnificent
Yew hedges, a recently renovated rose garden, sweeping lawns, rhododendrons
and specimen trees, an avenue of Deodars, Wellingtonias and Scots Pines over
one kilometre long, plus several ponds and a trout lake all combine to create
a unique atmosphere of peace and tranquility. A summer house and small chapel
hide amongst the trees and there are a number of gentle but interesting walks.
